19 of Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hard courts

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his initial trophy for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a difficult year, winning just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in particular - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with long-term coach Cervara.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial title following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface after March of 2023.

The win also indicates the Russian has secured 21 titles at 21 distinct competitions.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is really nice," stated tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six finals, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

Medvedev's retrieving strategy and regular outbursts on the playing surface had caused commentators to wonder if his ability to perform at the highest level was finished.

But the player has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and perform aggressively, supported by an better service.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult opponent, taking four of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors exchanged break points in the second set before the challenger, striving for his initial tour title, gained dominance to create a decider.

He saved 4 early opportunities in a tight third set before the champion broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev earned the title with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to control a return after a lengthy match.
